The research on robotic touch done by Heba Khamis and fellow researchers of the University of New South Wales is now spun into the robotic startup called Contactile.

The technology developed by Contactile works on a sensor system to guide robots about the amount of pressure and grip they should have while lifting different objects for purposes from fruit packing to warehouse picking.

The startup recently completed CSIRO’s ON Accelerator program and developed its technology with grant funding, recently from the US Office of Naval Research Global for developing a device to disarm underwater mines using robotic hands.
